By the time you receive this Bulletin, we will have commenced the transfer of classes from Victoria St across to GPLACE.
Thank you to those tutors, class reps and members who have been so accommodating of the numerous time-shifts essential for the timetable changes.Included with this Bulletin is the revised Monday and Tuesday timetable, which has already commenced.
By the end of May, after I have talked with tutors/reps, we expect that all classes will have been transferred (except for the larger ‘special requirements classes’.)
NEWS FROM OUR COMMITTEE Next month, the Committee will be examining whether we should continue to follow school terms with breaks to our classes at the ends of terms 1, 2 and 3. If you have opinions and wish to pass them on, contact me by email, or one of the other Committee members.

The Committee has endorsed my application to become a member of the City Council’s Positive Ageing Strategy, representing U3A (Ballarat).
Concern was expressed that too many members are not wearing their U3A badges during classes and activities. Badges are of great assistance for interaction between members, tutors’ identification of class members and for medical emergencies.
The Committee will be reviewing end of year procedures – subscription renewal, enrolling in classes, revised subject booklet and 2013 timetable. In this review, we hope to make the processes more orderly and efficient.
OUR 25th CELEBRATIONS
The highlight of our year of celebrations will be on 19th September at the Mining Exchange:
CELEBRATING LIFE, LEARNING & RELAXATION ‘U3A GARDEN PARTY’
Our special guest to open our Celebration day will be Noeline Brown, Ambassador for the Ageing and well-known in entertainment circles. She will be travelling down from Sydney,

as our guest for the day. The City Mayor, Cr Mark Harris has confirmed his attendance also.
It is essential that individuals and groups within U3A, organize and become involved in what I am assured will be a great day.
VICTORIA STREET
To assist with our departure in June:
Members are invited to help themselves to the books in our library, and urge that they need not be replaced or returned.
If you donated cushions and wish to recover them, please take them when the building is open. (See timetable).
Serviceable equipment will be transferred to GPLACE.
FIRST AID TRAINING
Members of classes held outdoors, with a high physical component or subject to frequent potential for safety concerns, are urged to strongly support the First Aid sessions which we are sponsoring through the Red Cross for our members. (See notice circulating to these classes.

GPLACE NEWS
Anne Boag has retired as one of our representatives on the GPlace Management Committee, after more than 6 years of determined effort, in assisting in making the Consortium work and upholding the best interests of U3A. On behalf of the Committee and the membership, I wish to publicly congratulate and thank her for her often heroic and sometimes lone efforts, in working on our behalf.
The issue of cleanliness at GPlace is a concern to us all. U3A reps have ensured that it will be treated as an urgent agenda item at the next Management Meeting. (Our earlier cleaning arrangements with Mount Clear have lapsed, since the employee formerly responsible has left.)
Anne Ottrey, our Vice-President and I will continue to attempt to protect our best interests, in what can sometimes be a somewhat challenging decision-making environment.
